Descrizione
Explore Sarajevo's mountains on a self-guided e-bike tour. Follow a GPX route file, ride through Dariva, and visit the Miljacka River. Experience the Olympic bobsleigh track and Trebević Mountain.
Begin your self-guided e-bike tour at the Meet Bosnia Tours office in Baščaršija, where you’ll receive a short introduction, safety briefing, GPX route file, and all necessary biking equipment. Set off on your high-end electric mountain bike, designed for comfort, control, and strong support on longer climbs and mixed mountain terrain.
Start your ride in Sarajevo Old Town and follow the city towards Dariva, one of the most beautiful natural entrances into the mountains. From there, continue along the historic Sarajevo Ćiro Trail, a route that follows parts of the old narrow-gauge railway line which once connected Sarajevo with eastern Bosnia. This section is a perfect warm-up, combining history, nature, and a peaceful ride away from city traffic.
Continue towards Pale, passing through a mix of local roads, forest paths, and open mountain landscapes. As the city slowly disappears behind you, the ride becomes more scenic and peaceful, with fresh air, mountain views, and a completely different side of Sarajevo’s surroundings.
Visit the spring of the Miljacka River, the river that flows through the center of Sarajevo. Seeing where this important Sarajevo river begins gives the tour a special local story, connecting the city center with the mountains above it.
From the Miljacka spring area, continue toward Jahorina Mountain, one of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s most famous Olympic mountains. This is where the ride becomes a true mountain biking adventure. The elevation increases, the landscapes open up, and you can enjoy wide mountain views, forest sections, and the feeling of being far away from the city, even though Sarajevo is still close.
The highest point of the route reaches around 1,540 meters above sea level, making this a real mountain tour. Thanks to the electric assistance, the climbs are much easier and more enjoyable, while you still get the satisfaction of an active outdoor experience.
After Jahorina, the return route leads toward Trebević Mountain, another iconic Olympic mountain overlooking Sarajevo. Trebević is famous for its nature, views over the city, and the legendary 1984 Winter Olympic bobsleigh track. One of the most exciting parts of the tour is the descent through the bobsleigh area, a unique experience that combines sport history, adventure, and one of Sarajevo’s most recognizable landmarks.
The final part of the ride brings you back down toward Baščaršija, finishing again at the Meet Bosnia Tours office, where the tour started.
