Sarajevo: Olympic Mountains and Landmarks Tour

Explore Sarajevo’s Olympic legacy on a tour of Trebević, Igman, and Bjelašnica mountains. Visit the Olympic Bobsleigh Track, Ski Jump Complex, and other iconic sites.
Begin with a scenic drive to Mount Trebević, where you’ll visit the famous Olympic Bobsleigh and Luge Track. Built for the 1984 Winter Olympics, this track hosted some of the most exciting events of the Games and remains one of Sarajevo’s most recognizable Olympic symbols.

Walk inside the actual bobsleigh track, following the same route once used by Olympic athletes. Walking through its concrete curves offers a close-up perspective of the venue and creates excellent photo opportunities while learning about its Olympic history and later transformation.

Continue to Mount Igman, home to the impressive Olympic Ski Jump Complex. While it is not possible to enter or climb the ski jump structures themselves, walk uphill along the slope all the way to the base of the ski jump towers. This short ascent provides a much better understanding of the size and steepness of the facility and is often one of the most memorable parts of the tour.

The walk can be physically demanding for some visitors, but those who prefer not to climb are welcome to remain below and admire the ski jumps from the viewing area while enjoying the surrounding scenery.

From Igman, proceed to Mount Bjelašnica, the venue for the Olympic alpine skiing events. This mountain holds a special place in sporting history as the location where Jure Franko won the silver medal for Yugoslavia, the country's first and only Winter Olympic medal.

Enjoy a relaxing break here, take photographs of the mountain landscapes, and hear the story behind one of the most celebrated achievements of the Sarajevo Olympics.

After exploring the Olympic mountains, return to Sarajevo for visits to two of the city's most important Olympic sites. Stop at Olympic Hall Zetra, one of the main indoor venues of the Games, where figure skating and ice hockey competitions were held.

The final stop is Koševo Stadium, where the spectacular Opening Ceremony of the XIV Winter Olympic Games took place, officially opening one of the most successful and beloved Winter Olympics in history.
