Marins-Itaguaré Crossing: A classic adventure in the Mantiqueira Mountains! It links two iconic peaks over 14 km, with amazing views and unique landscapes between São Paulo and Minas Gerais.

Technical and Challenging: With climbs, descents, and wild camps, the crossing is a great training ground for bigger adventures, like Serra Fina and Transmantiqueira. ⛰️
Natural Beauty: High-altitude fields typical of the Atlantic Forest biome, stunning views of the Paraíba Valley, mountains in southern Minas Gerais, and a privileged panorama of the Serra Fina.
Key Highlights:
Pico dos Marins (2,422 m): The highest point of the crossing, full of stories, including the mystery of the disappearance of the scout Marco Aurélio. ️
Pico do Itaguaré (2,308 m): A massive mountain cut by large vertical cracks, perfect for taking in the horizon and the grandeur of the Mantiqueira.
Pedra Redonda: A really cool rock formation that you can only see from the right angle, right in the middle of the crossing.
Marins-Itaguaré Crossing Itinerary (2 days) ⏳
Day 1: Base Marins, Pico dos Marins, and Pedra Redonda
Highlights: Climb to Pico dos Marins, with stops for photos and a break. The summit has awesome views and is a great way to get into the technical stuff of the crossing.
Camping: Spend the night on the summit or at designated spots below. ️
Distance: about 12 km
Highlights: Crossing the mountain ridge, the group reaches Pedra Redonda, with unique views and moments of contemplation.
Camp: Overnight near Pedra Redonda, in a wild camp.
Day 2: From Pedra Redonda to Pico do Itaguaré and back down
Distance: about 8 km
Highlights: You can choose to climb Pico do Itaguaré and then head down at the end of the crossing. We wrap up the expedition with unforgettable views and a sense of accomplishment.
