We begin on the northern edge of Marjan Hill, following a scenic waterfront trail with sweeping views across the bay toward the neighbouring towns dotting the coastline. As we ride, your guide will share the fascinating story of this region’s unique produce, including the legendary Zinfandel wine, whose roots turn out to be right here in Dalmatia. Scientists discovered that Croatia’s near-forgotten native grape, “Crljenak Kaštelanski”, is genetically identical to America’s beloved Zinfandel. A Croatian grape that conquered the world!

Your guide will also walk you through the rich and layered history of Split, from its origins as a Roman settlement and the retirement palace of Emperor Diocletian, through Venetian rule, the Austro-Hungarian era, a brief Napoleonic chapter, the communist Yugoslav period, and finally to the vibrant, modern Croatia of today. Few cities in Europe carry so many chapters within a single skyline.

We then cross the western tip of Marjan, and the scenery shifts completely. The sunny southern slopes are blanketed in fragrant Dalmatian pine forest, where we stop at the medieval Church of St. Jerome (Sveti Jere), a truly spellbinding sight. Here, 15th-century hermitages are carved directly into the cliffsides, creating an almost otherworldly scene that visitors often liken to a miniature Petra. Your guide will bring its story to life.

From here, we wind our way up to a stunning 360° hilltop viewpoint, one of Split’s best-kept secrets and a perfect photo stop, completely free of charge. We continue to the summit of Marjan Hill, where a bird’s-eye panorama reveals the entire city of Split spread below you, with the glittering Adriatic and the silhouettes of the Dalmatian islands stretching into the distance.

We descend along the upper northern trail, enjoying one final change of scenery before returning to where it all began.

Throughout the tour, Marjan Park remains closed to cars - just cyclists, pedestrians, and fresh sea air. It’s a relaxed, traffic-free experience that anyone can enjoy. The e-bikes handle the hills; you handle the memories.
