Christmas lights on the Medellín River

Explore one of the most iconic areas of Medellín with a local who'll tell you all the stories about this annual tradition. This tour starts at the Industriales metro station. A few meters from there, we'll start the tour on the Guayaquil bridge, one of the oldest in the city.

The route stretches for 1.5 kilometers. In the first part of this route, we'll talk about the origin of the lighting, as well as some elements that have made the city the second most important in the country.

The second part focuses on December traditions. It'll be a great time to talk about end-of-year rituals, as well as highlight the history of music, food, and some of the things that make spending Christmas in Medellín so special and unique.

Then, we'll move on to the third part of the section, where the focus is on the city's natural beauty. In this segment, you'll see 9,121 handmade paper flowers, as well as birds, butterflies, bees, and other species that are part of the city's natural landscape.

Finally, the tour wraps up with a tribute to the 70th anniversary of this tradition. You'll also see a video mapping and a light and sound show on the facade of one of the city's most important buildings.
