Day 1: Quito – Cloud Forest
Begin your adventure with a pickup from your hotel in Quito. Travel along the scenic Calacalí – Nanegalito route, characterized by colorful and changing landscapes. Take a detour to a secondary road that ascends into the cloud forest, arriving at an eco-lodge perched high in the Tandayapa Valley.
After a warm welcome and breakfast, meet your guide for a brief introduction before embarking on your first hike of the day. The choice of trail depends on the weather, trail conditions, and group size (maximum 7 people). This initial hike, lasting over two hours, offers a deep dive into the ecology and biodiversity of the forest.
After lunch, enjoy a second hike along a different trail to discover new areas of the cloud forest and learn about its flora and fauna. As evening falls, enjoy dinner and accommodation. With a bit of luck, you might spot the charming Olinguito, one of the cloud forest’s most emblematic species.
Day 2: Cloud Forest – Quito
At dawn, join an optional birdwatching hike (included in the package), ideal for observing the surprising diversity of species that inhabit the area. At 8:00 AM, enjoy a special breakfast, followed by a new meeting with your guide to plan the next hike. This time, explore the area’s waterfalls via the Yumbo / Immersion Trail, known for its jungle-like surroundings and greater sense of adventure.
After lunch, take a short break and have the opportunity to purchase local souvenirs. At 3:00 PM, your driver will pick you up for the return journey to Quito, with an estimated arrival at your hotel by 5:00 PM.
