Learn the basics of sea kayak surfing on this full-day workshop. Get an introduction to the skills and etiquette needed to play safely in the surf, followed by a practice session in small waves. Refine your skills with a session in rougher waters.

Start with an introduction to the skills and etiquette needed to play safely in the surf, followed by a practice session in small waves. Cover how to take advantage of a following sea, setting up to land, riding the wave and the foam pile.

Leave the beach and learn stroke timing and basic tactics for dealing with oncoming waves. Practice at San Luis Pass in L-2/L-3 conditions with surf-specific sea kayaks. Focus on surf technique and have your strokes, boat control, and timing fine-tuned.

Have a closer look at positioning on the wave, generating more speed, top turns, and end moves.
