Start: Merkato (1 hour)

You’ll find everything from spices and coffee beans to traditional baskets and handmade goods. The atmosphere is busy and energetic, offering a real glimpse into daily Ethiopian life. Walk through sections like the spice market and local crafts area, and if possible, observe how coffee is roasted and sold. Keep your belongings secure and consider moving with a guide for a smoother experience.

Next: Entoto Mountains (1 hour)
Drive about 30–40 minutes uphill to the Entoto Mountains. This area offers fresh air and panoramic views of Addis Ababa. Spend around an hour enjoying the scenery and visiting Entoto Maryam Church, one of the oldest churches in the region. You can also explore the former palace of Emperor Menelik II nearby. The cooler climate and eucalyptus forests provide a relaxing contrast to the busy city below.

End: National Museum of Ethiopia (1 hour)

Finish your tour at the National Museum of Ethiopia. Allocate about an hour to explore its exhibits. The museum is famous for housing “Lucy,” one of the oldest hominid skeletons ever discovered. You’ll also find archaeological artifacts, historical relics, and modern Ethiopian art. This stop provides important context about Ethiopia’s ancient history and cultural heritage, making it a perfect conclusion to your short tour.

The tour will end up with Ethiopian coffee testing.
