Start with the northern cluster of Lalibela’s famous rock-hewn churches, including Bete Medhane Alem, Bete Maryam, Bete Mikael, Bete Golgotha, and Bete Meskel. Your guide will explain the history, legends, religious significance, and unique architectural features of each site.

Enjoy a break for lunch at a local Ethiopian restaurant (at your own expense). Continue exploring the southern group, including Bete Gabriel-Rufael, Bete Merkorios, Bete Amanuel, and Bete Abba Libanos.

Visit the most iconic church in Lalibela, Bete Giyorgis (St. George). Carved entirely from a single block of rock and shaped like a cross, it is one of Ethiopia’s most extraordinary architectural achievements. Take time to explore the church, surrounding trenches, and viewpoints while learning about the traditions and stories connected with Lalibela.

Finish the day with an optional traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony or time to explore local handicrafts and shops. Your guide will accompany you back to your hotel, where the tour ends.
