I know what youre thinking "oh great ANOTHER Vancouver tour". But let me tell you what sets my tour out from the others. Yes, Vancouver is a popular city & yes we're the home of Alaska cruising since the 1970s, with over 1 million visitors each year. Thats probably what puts us on the map.

And yes, I could regail you with my 30 years experience, my 2 Tourism Vancouver award nominations and my countless 5-star reviews. The fact that I am a member in good standing with the Tour Guide Association of BC also might have some impact.

But thats all just paperwork to me. What makes me who I am is this: I moved to BC in 1995 and every day since that first arrival, I've been captivated and mesmerized by our mountains, our ocean, our wonder that is, as the provincial tourism council proclaims "the best place on earth".

I'm not a multi-national company from Britian offering a local tour. I'm not a major Vancouver company owned by an outfit in Alberta. I'm a local, 1 man, 1 bus operation. I'm the whole "kit and kaboodle" from management to operations even the cleaning staff.

I'm an 'undocumented' (meaning non-status) and welcomed member of the Metis community with roots going 3 generations back in antiquity to the Mi'kmaq peoples of Nova Scotia. With that lineage to Canadas First Nations Peoples, and the support of the Sto:Lo Peoples of the Fraser Valley, I am sincerely honoured to bring their stories and history to my tours. Knowing the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) peoples story of this region, brings you an interesting and personal connection to the city.

We'll see all the traditional sites including Gastown, Chinatown the harbour front, infamous Stanley Park and even grab a bite at Granville Island. Before we conclude our tour we'll sit atop the highest point in the city at Queen Elizabeth Park and take in a stunning panoramic view of the city against our glorious mountains.

My dry sense of humour, sprinkled with the occasional 'dad jokes' and my "Rita Rudner" style delivery (an actual description from a guest on my tour) culminating with my "gen X" freestyle brings you a flavour of the city that you'll talk about for some time.

I have proudly offered this tour for several years as a private experience. However, with constant bookings, I feel disappointed when I have to deny people the opportunity to enjoy our time together. Therefore for the first rime, I am proud to offer this tour in a 48-seater, air-conditioned motor coach. Hopefully so more people can enjoy an afternoon.

And as I always conclude my tours with "if you enjoyed my tour, my name is Steve. If you think I should stick to cleaning buses for a living, my name is Bob. Either way the owners of Compass Tours is pleased to hear your feedback. And incidentally, management always asks me 'whose this Bob guy we keep hearing about?' "
