Nairobi: 2-Day Samburu National Reserve Safari Tour

Begin your journey to Samburu National Reserve with an early morning departure from Nairobi, ideally around 6:00 am. Enjoy a scenic drive north through Kenya’s central highlands and down into the semi-arid Samburu region.

Arrive at the reserve around midday, in time for check-in and lunch at your lodge or camp. After a short rest, head out for an afternoon game drive around 4:00 pm.

Explore Samburu’s unique ecosystem, home to the “Samburu Special Five”: the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. You may also encounter elephants, lions, leopards, and a rich variety of birdlife. As the sun sets over the rugged landscape, return to your lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening under the stars.

On the second day, start with a pre-dawn wake-up for an early morning game drive, the best time to catch predators in action and witness the reserve coming alive. After breakfast back at your lodge, you can choose to relax or take a guided nature walk (if offered) to learn about the region’s flora and indigenous cultures, including the Samburu people.

Enjoy lunch and some downtime before checking out. Begin your journey back to Nairobi in the early afternoon, aiming to arrive in the evening with memories of an enriching and wildlife-filled escape into one of Kenya’s most unique and less-crowded national reserves.
