From Arusha: 3-Day Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater Safari

Begin your safari with a morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha. Meet your professional driver-guide and travel through the scenic Great Rift Valley and Ngorongoro Conservation Area toward Serengeti National Park. Along the way, enjoy views of local villages, open plains, and highland landscapes before entering the world-famous Serengeti.

Spend the afternoon exploring the Serengeti’s vast grasslands and acacia-covered plains. The park supports an incredible variety of wildlife, including lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and many species of antelope. Your guide will help you identify animals, birds, and important features of the Serengeti ecosystem while choosing suitable locations for wildlife viewing and photography.

After the game drive, continue to your selected lodge, tented camp, or campsite for dinner and an overnight stay. Relax in the peaceful safari environment and listen to the natural sounds of the African wilderness.

On the second day, begin with an early breakfast before heading out for a full day of game viewing in Serengeti National Park. The morning hours are often excellent for observing active predators and other animals before the temperatures rise. Explore different wildlife areas while searching for big cats, elephant families, grazing herds, and smaller species that are often missed during shorter game drives.

Depending on the travel season and wildlife movement, you may encounter large herds of wildebeests and zebras associated with the Great Migration. Migration sightings depend on seasonal rainfall and animal movement and therefore cannot be guaranteed.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated location before continuing your afternoon game drive. Later, leave the Serengeti and travel toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arrive at your lodge, camp, or campsite near the crater rim or in the surrounding highlands for dinner and overnight.

On the third day, wake up early and descend approximately 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for a memorable game-drive experience. The crater is one of Africa’s most concentrated wildlife areas and provides opportunities to see lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, hyenas, jackals, and many bird species.

The Ngorongoro Crater is also one of Tanzania’s important habitats for the endangered black rhino. Although sightings are never guaranteed, the open crater floor offers a good opportunity to search for this rare member of the Big Five.
