Conquer Mount Kilimanjaro's Umbwe Route on a 6 days trek. Enjoy breathtaking vistas, a challenging climb, and a summit push to Uhuru Peak.
Day 1: Umbwe Gate (1,614 m) → Umbwe Cave Camp (2,850 m)
Drive from Arusha → Machame Gate for registration → Umbwe Gate.
Trail passes through rainforest, coffee & banana plantations.
Steep ridge climb between Lonzo & Umbwe rivers.
Camp set in dense forest.
Overnight: Umbwe Cave Camp

Day 2: Umbwe Cave Camp (2,850 m) → Barranco Camp (3,985 m)
Trail becomes rockier, moss-covered trees & thinner forest.
Panoramic views of Kilimanjaro.
Descent into Barranco Valley → Senecio Forest.
Overnight: Barranco Camp

Day 3: Barranco Camp (3,985 m) → Karanga Camp (4,040 m)
Descend into ravine → climb the Great Barranco Wall (900 ft).
Traverse hills & valleys.
Short day for acclimatization.
Overnight: Karanga Camp

Day 4: Karanga Camp (4,040 m) → Barafu Camp (4,681 m)
Steady ascent to Barafu Ridge (Swahili: “ice”).
Harsh, exposed ridge—be cautious.
Prepare gear & rest before midnight summit push.
Overnight: Barafu Camp

Day 5: Summit Attempt – Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) → Mweka Camp (3,100 m)
Midnight start (~23:30) → ascend scree slopes to Stella Point (5,739 m).
Stunning sunrise (weather permitting).
Continue 2 hrs to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) – the summit.
Descend back to Barafu (~3 hrs), short rest, then continue to Mweka Camp.
Overnight: Mweka Camp

Day 6: Mweka Camp (3,100 m) → Mweka Gate → Arusha
4–6 hr descent (8.5 km) through forest to Mweka Gate.
Receive summit certificates:
Green for Stella Point.
Gold for Uhuru Peak.
Continue 3 km to Mweka Village → hot lunch → drive back to Arusha.
Celebration dinner & well-earned rest!
