Beschrijving
An open-air park in Nikko where a hundred of the world's great buildings stand at one twenty-fifth scale, with 140,000 tiny people living in them, entry included.
Tobu World Square is a strange and completely charming place. A hundred and two buildings from around the world, twenty-one of them World Heritage sites, built at one twenty-fifth scale to a standard that stands up to a close camera. There are roughly a hundred and forty thousand small figures placed in them, doing things. A tiny wedding. A tiny fire brigade. A tiny man on a tiny roof.
At that scale you stand level with the top of a cathedral, which is a view of architecture nobody gets otherwise, and children who are bored by real temples are completely absorbed here.
Your park entry is included in the price.
We also give you a guide for the first hour, because the pleasure of this park is in the details you would walk past: which building took the longest, which figures the builders hid as jokes, and how the Japanese section compares with the real buildings you may have already seen on your trip.
Then we use the rest of the day for the area around it. Depending on your interest that is either the Kinugawa river gorge and a riverside bath, or the Nikko cedar avenue, which is the longest tree-lined avenue in the world and takes eight minutes to drive.
This park is mostly outdoors, so it is best in clear weather, but the paths are wide, flat and paved throughout, which makes it one of the easiest days we sell for older visitors and pushchairs.
This is a private tour. Only your group.
If the park closes for weather, you can take a full refund of your booking, guaranteed. If you prefer, we can instead take you to the Nikko Toshogu shrine area.
