Begin your private experience with pickup from your Tokyo accommodation. Travel to Nikko and start with a hands-on Nikko-bori woodcarving session. Under local instruction, learn the basic technique and create a small wooden souvenir to take home.

Continue into central Nikko for a relaxed walk through the historic town and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Depending on the restaurant and availability, the meal can feature Nikko’s famous yuba and other Japanese specialties.

In the afternoon, leave the busy sightseeing areas behind and walk through Kanmangafuchi Abyss, a dramatic riverside landscape formed by volcanic activity. Continue toward Takinoo Shrine, following a forest route surrounded by enormous cedar trees and traditional stone features.
