Your experience begins with pickup from your accommodation in Rovaniemi. During the drive, your Arctic Safari Guides guide will introduce you to life in Lapland, local culture and the Arctic environment before you arrive at a small family-run husky farm.

And you may meet your first husky before you have even properly arrived.

Vasco is the farm’s friendly free-roaming husky, known for greeting visitors with a wagging tail. This is his home, and welcoming new people is simply part of his personality.

The farm is run by Inka and Jussi, for whom huskies are much more than a tourism business. Life with sled dogs is their passion and way of life. They train and compete with their dogs and would have them even without tourism. Here, the dogs always come first.

Your visit is reserved for your group, meaning there are no other customer groups at the farm during your experience. This gives you time to meet the dogs, ask questions and enjoy the undivided attention of your hosts.

Inka and Jussi will introduce you to their dogs and share stories about everyday life at the farm. Learn about training, feeding and caring for sled dogs, what makes a good working husky, the history of dog sledding and the fascinating world of sled-dog racing.

Then it is time for one of the highlights: a guide-driven husky sled ride. You can simply sit back and enjoy the ride while an experienced guide handles the dog team – an ideal choice for guests who want to experience travelling by husky sled without having to drive the team themselves.

You can visit the farm throughout the season, with the husky experience changing as Lapland moves from autumn towards the snowy Arctic winter.

⭐ Autumn | 15 September – 15 November
Experience an approximately 3 km guide-driven husky cart ride through the autumn forest.
⭐ Early Winter | 17 November – 31 December
Enjoy an approximately 3 km guide-driven husky sled ride as winter arrives in Lapland.
⭐ Winter | 1 January – 31 March
Experience an approximately 5 km guide-driven husky sled ride through the snowy landscape, depending on safe snow and ice conditions.

If snow or trail conditions prevent us from providing the booked husky ride as described and we cannot offer the experience you booked, you will receive a full refund.

Throughout the visit, your Arctic Safari Guides guide will capture photographs of your experience, so you can concentrate on the dogs and enjoy the moment. Professionally edited high-resolution photos are included and delivered digitally within three business days.

After the experience, your guide will drive you back to your accommodation in Rovaniemi.
