Begin your day with a pickup from your hotel in Yogyakarta. Head to the Yogyakarta Palace, where you’ll spend an hour with a local guide who will share the history of the kings of Islamic Mataram. Learn about the split of the kingdom into two: Kasunanan in Surakarta and Kasultanan in Yogyakarta.
Witness Javanese cultural performances, including traditional dances and gamelan music, held on certain days. After exploring the palace, continue to Taman Sari, also known as the Water Castle. Discover the luxurious garden and bathing pool complex built by the first king of Yogyakarta.
Admire the blend of Javanese and European architectural styles as you spend an hour exploring the site. Next, head to Borobudur Temple, stopping for lunch along the way if you wish. Upon arrival, spend 2 hours exploring the temple and its surroundings.

The Yogyakarta Palace is closed to visitors once a week for cleaning.
The trip from the city to Borobudur Temple takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes by car.
And Borobudur Temple cannot be visited on Mondays, even if you climb the temple structure. Except on Mondays during school holidays in Indonesia.
