Cross the Mekong from Luang Prabang and explore Xiengman Village. Visit temples, enjoy a traditional Lao lunch, explore a sacred cave, take a boat ride, and finish with an herbal foot bath.
Begin with hotel pickup in Luang Prabang. Travel to the main pier behind the Royal Palace and cross the Mekong by traditional ferry. During the crossing, your guide shares the local legend of the Male Mountain and Female Mountain.
Arrive at Lao Old House for a welcome, refreshments, and an introduction to the day's journey. Receive a flower tower, children's gift package, headlamp, and drink before departing.
Walk through Xiengman Village and meet local children along the village route. Enjoy friendly cultural interaction and learn about everyday village life through your guide's introduction to local customs and traditions. This visit takes place within the village rather than at a school, so the experience can continue throughout the year, including school holidays. Children's participation depends on their availability.
Visit a Xiengman village temple. Learn about the temple and Buddhist traditions and offer your flower tower. Choose a Buddha image connected with your birth date, the current date, or a lucky Buddha image.
Walk through the village and learn about local life, kitchens, plants, and traditions. Climb to the temple on Chomphet Mountain and enjoy the views.
Continue to Long Khun Temple and collect your packed traditional Lao lunch. The meal includes bamboo-tube rice and either a small grilled fish or grilled chicken wrapped in banana leaves. Enjoy lunch beside the Mekong, followed by a Buddhist blessing bracelet from a monk.
Visit Saklin Cave Temple. Use a headlamp to explore the cave area and discover the sacred spring. Continue through the forest to Wat Had Siaew and hidden Buddha statues. The forest walking distance is approximately 4 km.
Board a traditional Lao boat at Wat Had Siaew pier for a 10-minute Mekong ride. Arrive at the Xiengman Village Herbal Centre pier and walk about five minutes to a local herbal shop for a 20-minute herbal wellness foot bath.
Return by boat to Wat Xieng Thong pier. Continue exploring independently or return to your hotel by vehicle.
