If you want to fully discover the beauty of the Peruvian jungle, this 2-day tour of Monkey Island and Lake Sandoval is for you. We will spend some unforgettable days in the Tambopata National Reserve.

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Monkey Island
At the indicated time we will pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Maldonado and we will travel to the banks of the Tambopata River. Two hours later, we will change the 4x4 vehicle for a boat that will take us to the hotel where we will spend the night.

We will arrive at the accommodation and, after dropping off our luggage, we will regain our strength with lunch. In the afternoon, we will travel by boat to Rolling Island, popularly called Monkey Island, a rescue center created to care for vulnerable primates and, later, reinsert them into their natural habitat.

Upon arriving at the refuge, we will meet the species of monkeys that live on Rolling Island, learning the particularities of each species and the care they receive daily. You can even feed them! Without a doubt, it will be an unforgettable experience.

Once we visit Monkey Island, we will return to the accommodation. Afterwards, we will go in search of the white caimans that live in the Madre de Dios River. Also, if we are lucky, we will be able to see the largest rodent in the world, the capiraba.

Finally, we will return to the lodge, where we will have dinner and rest until the next day.

Day 2: Lake Sandoval – Puerto Maldonado
We will have breakfast at the hotel and begin a walk through the Tambopata rainforest until we reach Lake Sandoval, one of the largest in the reserve and famous for being a perfect habitat for piranhas.

We will navigate Lake Sandoval to discover the fauna and flora of the area. Stay very attentive! During the boat ride, we will be able to observe numerous species of animals such as cormorants, herons, pumas, monkeys, sloths and giant otters.

After the boat ride on Lake Sandoval, we will return to the hotel for lunch. With our batteries charged, we will return to Puerto Maldonado, where we will finish the excursion in the late afternoon.
