Short Inca Trail Trek – 1 Day (Cusco – Machu Picchu)
The trek begins very early in the morning, around 4:30 a.m., with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. From there, you will travel approximately 1 to 1.5 hours with your guide to the Ollantaytambo train station.
In Ollantaytambo, we will board the Expedition Train to Km 104 (Chachabamba), the starting point of the trek. At the checkpoint, you will need to present your Inca Trail permit, your original passport, and your ISIC card (if applicable).
The Short Inca Trail Trek involves a hike of approximately 6 to 7 hours, with a moderate level of difficulty, ideal for those who wish to experience the Inca Trail without committing to the classic multi-day trek.
We will hike for approximately 3.5 to 4 hours until we reach the impressive archaeological site of Wiñay Wayna, where we will enjoy a break and lunch surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, including lush vegetation and breathtaking views of the valley.
After lunch, we will continue hiking for approximately two more hours until we reach Inti Punku (Sun Gate), where you will enjoy a stunning panoramic view of Machu Picchu.
From there, we will descend to the iconic citadel of Machu Picchu, entering through the upper section to take the classic panoramic photos (Circuit 1b).
After the visit, we will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes, where you will wait to board the train back to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival at Ollantaytambo Station, transportation will take you back to Cusco.
