The trail moves from dense montane forest to open grasslands before culminating at the summit, which offers jaw-dropping 360° views of central Sri Lanka. The overnight stay near the trailhead allows for a relaxed, scenic experience.

At 1,906 meters, Gombaniya is the highest and most challenging summit in the Knuckles Conservation Forest. The trail passes through cloud forests, moss-covered roots, and wild grasslands — a paradise for serious hikers.
