Celebrate New Year's Eve in the heart of the Tunisian desert! In two days, check out El Jem, Matmata, and enjoy a magical night under the stars with a traditional dinner, nomadic shows, and a festive vibe.
Picture this... On December 31st at dawn, you leave the hustle and bustle of Tunis, Sousse, or Hammamet. In a comfy car, you hit the road to southern Tunisia, where the landscapes slowly change, giving way to the magic of the desert.
Your first stop takes you to the heart of history: El Jem and its impressive Roman amphitheater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Huge and majestic, it brings to mind the grandeur of the Roman Empire. As you walk through its tiers and underground passages, you feel tiny compared to the power of the past.
The road keeps going to Matmata, a famous village in the south, known for its cool cave houses dug into the ground. A family welcomes you into their traditional home, giving you a living example of this unique architecture, designed to withstand the extremes of the desert climate.
After a typical lunch, we head to the vast expanses of sand. The desert opens up to you, vast and silent. When you get to the Saharan camp, you'll check out your comfy Berber tents and take a moment to climb the nearby dune to soak in the endless view. It's totally calm. The moment is magical.

New Year's Eve 2026 kicks off as the sun starts to set. The famous group Top du Sahara kicks off the evening with an awesome equestrian show, followed by a performance featuring the dromedary, a symbol of nomadism. On the golden dunes, an aperitif is served at sunset, in a suspended atmosphere.

Night falls and a sumptuous dinner awaits you: sand bread baked in embers, briks, Fatma's fingers, lamb tagine in a jug, mechoui, date sweets, mint tea... A feast of flavors and traditions

Around the campfire, the party keeps going with Bedouin songs and dances, folk groups, and a super warm and unforgettable vibe. At midnight, the stars shine brighter: the Saharan Disco takes you to celebrate the arrival of 2026 with music, right in the heart of the desert.

You spend the night in a tent, lulled by the silence of the Sahara and the magic of the moment.

The next morning, after breakfast, you'll hit the road to Tozeur, crossing the famous Chott El Djerid, a vast salt lake with dazzling reflections. You gotta stop for a photo in front of this surreal horizon, between salt, sky, and mirages.

You keep going to Chebika, a cozy oasis tucked away at the foot of the mountains. With a local guide, you'll explore its waterfalls, palm trees, and steep trails. A breath of fresh air in the heart of the rock.

On the way back, one last must-see stop: Kairouan, a holy city and spiritual hub of Islam in North Africa. From the ramparts to the souks, and the famous mosques, the panoramic tour shows you a rich and vibrant heritage.

At the end of the day, head back to your departure cities. With a light heart and stars in your eyes, you head back with the memory of an extraordinary New Year's Eve
