Soon after leaving the pier, you will see the distinctive “Nine Oxen and Three Sandbars” section, where small islands and sandbars in the river resemble nine oxen standing in the water, their reflections shimmering in the clear current. Then the cruise enters Yellow-Cattle Gorge, where the river narrows and the cliffs tower overhead.

Then you will see “Wife-Waiting Rock”. It is one of the most sentimental landmarks along the river. A lone hill stands by the bank, its shape clearly resembling a woman gazing longingly over the water, as if waiting for her husband to return from afar.

After that, you will visit Guan Yan, also known as “Crown Mountain,” rises like a royal crown beside the river, with clustered peaks and dramatically shaped cliffs.

Then the Yangdi section, one of the most famous stretches of the Li River. Known for “Langshi Yanyu” (Wave Rock mist) and “Yangdi reflections,” this segment features wide river vistas, rolling hills, and layered peaks that stretch into the distance.

Next, you will see Nine-Horse Fresco Hill, it is one of the most iconic mountains on the Li River and a favorite spot for guests to count “horses” in the rock. When you look carefully, the lines and shadows form a herd of galloping horses: some rearing, some drinking, some grazing.

As the boat approaches Yangshuo, you enter the Xingping area, often called the “pearl of the Li River.” The town sits where the river meets the foot of the hills, its gray-roofed houses and stone streets hugging the riverbank. Nearby is the famous “20-yuan RMB note landscape,” a stretch of the river widely used on the back of the Chinese 20-yuan bill.

You will also see Huangbu Reflection: The water here is so still that it looks like a yellow silk cloth laid out under the hills. The cliffs and their mirror images align symmetrically, creating a perfect “mirror image of the Li River” frame.

Luoshan Hill: This peak’s shape resembles a giant snail, with a rounded, spiraling contour that stands out among the karst hills.
