2:00pm – into the rainbow cave

Hotel pickup. Then a short drive to Reed Flute Cave. The name sounds simple. The inside? Not even close. Colored lights splash across ancient limestone formations – stalactites hanging like frozen waterfalls, stone pillars rising like crystal towers. The path winds through wide chambers. Drip… drip… the cave still grows, one drop at a time. Cool air. Quiet except for footsteps and awe.

Late afternoon – the elephant drinks

Next stop: Elephant Trunk Hill. A rock shaped so perfectly like an elephant dipping its trunk into the Li River that it became the symbol of Guilin. No long hike. Just walk to the viewpoint, snap the shot, and feel why this hill has been painted for a thousand years.

Dusk – the city lights up

As darkness falls, board the Two Rivers Night Cruise (Li River & Taohua River). The boat glides softly. Bridges wear neon necklaces. Pagodas on the banks shine gold and silver. Reflections shiver on the water. No crowds. No rush. Just a gentle hour of floating through Guilin's illuminated heart.

Evening – back to the hotel

Drop off at the Guilin hotel around 8:00-8:30pm. The day ends. But the images stay: a cave that looks like another planet, a rock elephant, and a river that turns into liquid light after dark.
