Take a day bullet train trip from Beijing to Datong see the spectacular Yungang Grottoes and Hanging Temple with our professional tour guide for this stress free tour.
This day tour offers hotel pickup from central Beijing according to your schedule. The high-speed train ride between Beijing and Datong takes approximately 2 hours.
Our local guide and driver will greet you at Datong Railway Station, then drive 25 km (40 minutes) to Yungang Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the 5th century over a period of 40 years, this 1-kilometer grotto complex features 45 well-preserved caves, 250 niches and over 51,000 Buddha statues. Caves 5 and 6 are the major highlights, home to a 17-meter giant Buddha and stunning intricate Buddhist carvings.
Shuttle buses run within the scenic area. Moderate walking and stair climbing are required throughout the tour, so please wear comfortable shoes. A professional guide will accompany you for the entire journey. Lunch is at your own expense.
In the afternoon, visit the 1,500-year-old Hanging Monastery. Perched 50 meters up the cliff of Mount Heng, it showcases distinctive wooden structures, ancient halls and statues. Please note: only the admission ticket for the Hanging Monastery is included; tickets for the Wooden Pagoda are not covered in the package.
After sightseeing, we will transfer you back to the railway station for your return train trip. Complimentary drop-off service to your hotel in central Beijing is provided.

Train tickets cannot be fully guaranteed during major Chinese holidays (May 1–5, October 1–7 and Spring Festival).
If we are unable to secure train tickets on the above dates, you will receive a full refund for the entire booking.
