Experience the thrill of rafting on the Mengdong River and explore the ancient water town of Furong on a day trip from Zhangjiajie. Enjoy a light show at the 60-meter-high waterfall.
Meet your guide in downtown Zhangjiajie and board an air-conditioned vehicle to the Mengdong River Rafting Scenic Area. Upon arrival, complete check-in formalities and collect your life jacket and safety helmet. Store your luggage in a locker (please keep valuables with you).
Take the scenic shuttle bus to the starting pier and start your exciting rafting adventure. The whole route stretches about 17 km with over 108 rapids. Pass through Xianren Gorge, Yanwang Shoal, Luoshuikeng Waterfall, and other scenic spots. Have fun splashing water and taking photos on gentle waters.
Finish rafting at Niulu River terminal and head back to the visitor center for a shower and to change clothes. Then, depart for Furong Town, a famous ancient town also known as Wangcun. Arrive at the town entrance and enjoy free time to explore.
Wander along the ancient bluestone streets. Visit classic attractions including the original shop of Liu Xiaoqing Tofu Pudding, Xizhou Bronze Pillar, and Tusi Palace. Browse local handicraft stores and taste authentic local snacks: Tujia blood cake duck, osmanthus jelly, bamboo tube milk tea, and more.
As night falls, see all the street lights and landscape lights turn on. Don’t miss the spectacular 60-meter high waterfall flowing down among stilt houses. The fantastic light show runs every 30 minutes. Recommended photo spots: Waterfall Viewing Platform and Tuwang Bridge. You can also stroll along the riverside and experience the peaceful night vibe of the ancient town.
Finally, gather at the agreed spot and drive back to Zhangjiajie.

Rafting is not allowed for children under 1.2m tall, seniors over 60 years old, guests with heart disease, high blood pressure and other illnesses.
The stone roads are slippery, please wear non-slip shoes.
The best time for night view photography is 20:00 – 21:00.
In case of heavy rain, rising water level or bad weather, the scenic area may suspend rafting temporarily. We will rearrange the itinerary or arrange refund accordingly.
No public night transport from Furong Town back to Zhangjiajie. Our exclusive round-trip vehicle ensures your safe return.
