Galapagos Explorer 4-Day Tour: Santa Cruz & Bartholomew

Discover the Galapagos Islands on a 4-day tour from Santa Cruz. Walk alongside giant tortoises, explore lava tunnels, and snorkel in the turquoise waters of the surrounding beaches.
Day 1: Welcome to the Highlands

Arrive at the airport and transfer to the green highlands of Santa Cruz Island. Visit the lava tunnels that were formed as the outer skin of molten lava solidified, and the liquid magma inside continued flowing, leaving behind a series of empty tubes. Walk through these underground channels.

Day 2: Bartolome & The Pinnacle

Early in the morning, transfer to Baltra to start your navigable tour to Bartholomew. One of the island’s principal attractions is the Pinnacle Rock. To see it properly, make an easy hike for around an hour.

Learn about the volcanic landscape of the island and see different species such as lava lizards or cacti. Once you reach the top, enjoy a magnificent view of the Pinnacle Rock in contrast with the volcanic landscape blended with the turquoise waters of the surrounding beaches. After the excursion, go snorkeling on one of the coral beaches.

Day 3: Charles Darwin, Craters & Tortuga Bay

Charles Darwin Research Station:

Visit the station to learn about the natural history of the Galapagos Islands and the importance of conservation efforts to protect its ecosystem. At the Tortoise Center (Charles Darwin Research Station), there are plenty of photo opportunities. Observe the whole variety of tortoises, including hatchlings, juveniles, and full-grown individuals.

Los Gemelos / Twin Craters:

Transfer to the Twin Craters located opposite each other on both sides of the road leading from Puerto Ayora to Baltra. The name is only figurative; they are not real craters. These formations were created by the collapse of surface material in underground fissures and chambers and the view is breathtaking.

Tortuga Bay:

Hike through an easy path that will take you to the white sand beach of Tortuga Bay. This place gets its name from the black sea turtles that lay their eggs here. Other species to be seen include white-tipped sharks and marine iguanas. There is a saltwater lagoon behind the mangroves that is often frequented by flamingos. The site is excellent for bird watching and you will enjoy a relaxing swim and snorkeling time.

Day 4: Puerto Ayora to Baltra

Enjoy your last breakfast in the islands before your private transfer from Puerto Ayora to Baltra Airport. Wave goodbye to the enchanted islands as you prepare for your flight back to the mainland, taking unforgettable memories and wild adventures with you.
