Isabela: Full Day with Penguins, Flamingos, Turtles, and Blue Sharks

Experience Isabela in a day with pickup from your hotel. Discover giant tortoises, flamingos, and penguins, explore the Tintoreras Islet, and enjoy snorkeling among the incredible marine fauna.
Your experience begins around 9:00–9:30 a.m., when our guide will pick you up directly from your hotel in Puerto Villamil to start a full day discovering the most iconic nature and wildlife of Isabela Island.

The first stop will be the Arnaldo Tupiza Giant Tortoise Breeding Center, one of the main conservation centers on Isabela. For about an hour, you'll walk along its trails while learning about the island's giant tortoises, their reproduction, conservation, and the efforts being made to protect these iconic Galápagos species.

During the land tour, you'll also have the chance to observe flamingos and different bird species in the wetlands and lagoons of Isabela, depending on the day's natural conditions.

Afterward, you'll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, perfect for taking a break before starting the marine part of the experience.

Next, we'll head to the Puerto Villamil pier, where you'll board a boat to begin your tour of the bay and the famous Tintoreras Islet.

Walk among impressive volcanic lava formations while your naturalist tour guide explains the geology, ecosystems, and fauna of this protected area. You'll visit the well-known Canal de las Tintoreras, where you can see whitetip reef sharks resting in shallow waters.

During the boat trip and hike, you'll have a chance to spot Galápagos penguins, blue-footed boobies, marine iguanas, sea turtles, sea lions, and other coastal birds.

Then comes one of the most special moments of the day: about an hour of snorkeling in the waters of Isabela. With gear included and accompanied by a naturalist guide, you can explore the underwater world with the chance to swim near sea turtles, tropical fish, rays, sea lions, whitetip sharks, and even penguins.

At the end of the snorkeling, you'll return to the boat to enjoy the last wildlife sightings and landscapes of the bay before returning to the Puerto Villamil wharf, where the experience will end.
