Hanover: Giant SUP Tour — Hannover Leine River

Paddle Hannover's Leine river on a Giant SUP — up to 8 adults, one board. Beginner-friendly round trip to Döhren Weir with a gravel beach stop. 3 hours of pure fun.
You arrive at the water's edge and see it for the first time: a board the size of a small raft, paddles laid out, life jackets ready. Someone in your group says "wait, we're all getting on that?" Yes. All of you.
After a short briefing on land, you climb aboard — carefully, then less carefully, then with someone already wobbling — and push off onto the Schneller Graben. Within the first few minutes, you figure out that paddling in sync actually works, and that paddling out of sync is at least more entertaining.
From the Schneller Graben you glide onto the Leine river, where Hannover quickly falls away behind you. The city gives way to trees, birdsong, and the kind of calm that's hard to find just a few minutes from the centre. The Leine here is quiet and unhurried — the same river, a completely different world.
You paddle upstream along the green riverbank, past meadows and overhanging willows, until the sound of rushing water tells you you're getting close. The Döhren Weir appears around a bend — and beside it, a small gravel beach where the current slows and the water catches the light. This is your stop. Pull up the board, stretch your legs, eat whatever you packed, and sit for a while next to the sound of the weir.
Then you turn around. Downstream now, the paddle back is noticeably easier — the current does some of the work, the route is familiar, and your group has found its rhythm. Someone tries standing. Someone else immediately sits back down. The board makes it back to the start with everyone still on it, which at this point feels like a genuine achievement.
Three hours from when you set off, you're back where you started — a little sun-tired, probably a little damp, and already telling someone else about it.
