Kourtaliotiko Gorge River Trek & Preveli Beach with Lunch

Embark on a mini river trekking adventure through the thrilling Kourtaliotis Gorge, right in the center of the island of Crete, and visit the most famous beach of Rethymno, the Palm Beach of Preveli.

Explore the great waterfall of Kourtaliotis gorge, a real natural wonder, and follow the river’s shore through special paths away from crowds with your experienced guide. Get the chance to explore the hidden forest of the gorge and splash into natural pools.

Once we arrive above the gorge, we get equipped with neoprene suits, helmets, and walking sticks, and after a short briefing about the route, we immediately start the adventure.

Enter the gorge and take the steps down to visit an old church of Agios Nikolaos, which is located inside the gorge, over the great waterfall's location. From there, have a perfect view of the waterfall's cave from above.

Continue down the steps and visit the spot where you can enter the big cave of the great waterfall. Enter the cool water of the Kourtaliotis springs and visit the main cave where the big waterfall appears. Enjoy plenty of time to take some unforgettable photos.

After you are overfilled from this magnificent natural wonder, continue down the river by splashing into natural pools and having fun next to the river’s shore. Pass by the amazing route down the gorge, and see some plane trees around you, which create the perfect scenery.

After walking for about 1 hour next to and into the river, finally reach the point where the van will wait for you to continue to your next destination, which is the most famous beach of Rethymno region, the Palm Beach of Preveli.

This beach is the end of the Kourtaliotis River and the scenery of the palm forest is amazing. Take some time to explore and relax, surrounded by the palm trees of the forest!

After spending 1.5 hours at the beach, get back to your van, and visit a hidden paradise called “Banana Garden” to have a light lunch and talk about your experience.

Finally, after enjoying your meal and sharing some time to discuss your beautiful day, continue your returning route to your base, full of memories and relaxing moments through the day.
