Opis

Become a Citizen Scientist to help track changes on a black sand beach in Iceland. Learn about the forces of nature that shape the landscape and leave with a Citizen Science Katla Geopark Certificate!
You'll meet your Katla Geopark Guide / Geologist and receive a brief training lesson before heading to the black sand beach. Then you'll become a Citizen Scientist doing real fieldwork! You'll map and examine the change in designated profiles on the famous beach named, Reynisfjara. After, you'll get to see and compare previous measurements to learn about and track stability, long-term developments (erosion or accretion), and storm recovery.

You'll actually be trained on and use coastline mapping gear, which includes Top Con GPS, a DJI drone, and ground camera to collect data.

Imagine being part of a long-term research project that will have an impact on science and tourism / visitor safety. At the end of your experience, receive a citizen scientist certificate from Katla Geopark and get your formal results emailed to you in a report.
