Opis

See penguins march through snow at Asahiyama Zoo, then explore Biei's Blue Pond, Shirahige Falls, the famous Christmas Tree, and Chiyoda Farm with optional snowmobile ride.
Your day begins at 8:00 from Sapporo Station North Exit bus parking area. Settle into the coach as it heads north through Hokkaido's snow-covered plains toward Asahikawa. The ride takes about two and a half hours, giving you time to enjoy the winter scenery along the way.

--- Asahiyama Zoo, about 100 minutes ---
Japan's northernmost zoo is also one of its most popular. The zoo's innovative enclosures let you observe animals from unusual angles — watch seals swim through a vertical tunnel, polar bears dive into freezing pools, and macaques huddle together for warmth. The winter highlight is the penguin walk, where a group of king penguins waddles across the snow-covered grounds just meters from visitors. Your admission ticket is already included, so you can head straight inside.

--- Christmas Tree, about 15 minutes ---
Leave the zoo behind and drive south into the Biei hills. A lone Niele pine stands in an open field, famous from a 1970s cigarette advertisement and countless social media posts. In winter, the tree rises from an endless white canvas — a quiet, photogenic moment in the heart of Hokkaido.

--- Shirahige Falls, about 20 minutes ---
Continue to the Shirogane area, where water seeps through volcanic rock face and cascades down in thin white threads that resemble an old man's beard. The contrast between the pale water streams and the deep blue of the Biei River below creates an otherworldly scene. A short boardwalk leads to the best viewing platform.

--- Blue Pond, about 15 minutes ---
Just a few minutes from the falls, this artificial pond has become one of Hokkaido's most photographed spots. Formed when volcanic debris dammed the river, the water takes on a striking cobalt hue from dissolved aluminum minerals. In winter, the bare larch trees standing in the blue water add a surreal, graphic quality to the scene.

--- Chiyoda Farm, about 70 minutes ---
Your final stop is a working horse farm in the Furano countryside. Wide open fields covered in snow stretch to the horizon. Walk around the farm grounds, visit the small shop, or take the optional snowmobile ride across the snowy trails. The snowmobile costs ¥15,000 per person for a single rider or ¥20,000 for two riders on one bike, payable in cash only. Drivers must be at least 16 years old.

After leaving the farm, the coach returns to Sapporo via expressway, arriving at Sapporo Station North Exit around 18:00.
