Spend an evening discovering Sapporo beyond the usual tourist pubs, with good food, plenty of drinks, small local pubs, and the people who make the city’s nightlife what it is.

You’ll meet your Sapporo Buddy and start with a relaxed walk through central Sapporo toward Susukino. Along the way, we’ll chat about the city, local nightlife, and the little things you might otherwise walk straight past.

Our first stop is a carefully chosen local izakaya, where we’ll sit down and enjoy dinner together. You’ll be served a course of at least five dishes, along with 90 minutes of all-you-can-drink. Rather than a loud chain packed with big groups, we look for places with good food and a more relaxed atmosphere — somewhere we would actually choose for our own night out.

And your Buddy won’t just sit on the sidelines — we’ll eat, drink, and enjoy the evening together. Along the way, we can explain the dishes, share a little about Japanese drinking and dining culture, and simply get to know each other over dinner.

Once everyone is fed and the first drinks have kicked off the night, we head deeper into Susukino.

Next comes a small local pub or standing pub. These compact places are part of everyday nightlife in Japan: people drop in after work, have a drink, talk to whoever happens to be around, and carry on with their evening.

And this is where having a Sapporo Buddy makes a difference.

We’ll help break the ice, introduce you to the people behind the counter, translate when needed, and make it easier to chat with locals around you. You don’t need to speak Japanese or figure out the unwritten rules on your own — we’re your bridge into the room.

Our final stop is a tiny counter pub tucked away inside one of Susukino’s many buildings. It might be somewhere you would walk past a hundred times without realizing what was upstairs. Pull up a seat, choose your drink, and see where the conversation takes us.

Depending on the places we visit, you might find Japanese whisky, regional sake, shochu, local craft beer, craft gin, or something completely new to try.

With a maximum of four guests, this isn’t a big-group party crawl. It feels much closer to going out for the night with someone who lives in Sapporo and knows where to take you.

And you don’t need to drink alcohol to join the fun. Non-alcoholic options are available, so you can still enjoy the food, people, atmosphere, and conversations at your own pace.
