Live a unique experience on horseback to San Juan Chamula! History, nature and culture in an unforgettable journey from San Cristobal.
We begin our adventure by picking you up promptly at our travel agency, from where we will take transportation to the outskirts of San Cristobal de las Casas. There we will begin a scenic horseback ride of approximately one hour to the emblematic indigenous village of San Juan Chamula.
During the horseback ride, you will enjoy the natural landscapes of the Chiapas highlands, appreciating its vegetation, mountains and the serenity of the surroundings. Upon arrival in San Juan Chamula, we will leave the horses to continue with a guided walking tour of approximately one hour.
Our local guide will give you an interesting introduction to the history, customs and traditions of this Tzotzil village, one of the most representative of the region. You will also have the opportunity to visit the main church, a unique place for its colonial architecture and mystical atmosphere, illuminated by candles of different sizes and colors. Entrance to the church is optional and is not included in the tour price.
At the end of the tour, we will take the horseback ride back to San Cristobal, enjoying the scenery again for approximately one hour. Upon arrival at the starting point, a unit will be waiting for you to take you back to the center of the city.
