Meet your local Norwegian guide inside the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel. Step outside for a short introduction and photo stop at UNESCO-listed Bryggen, then walk through Bergenhus Fortress to Haakon’s Hall. Enter the 13th-century royal hall and hear about King Håkon Håkonsson, royal celebrations, the hall’s later decline, and the explosion that left its stone walls standing in 1944.
Continue past St Mary’s Church to Bryggens Museum, built above the remains of Bergen’s earliest buildings. Admission is included. Explore the Below Ground exhibition and discover what archaeological finds and medieval rune sticks reveal about trade, faith, love, gossip, poetry, and magic.
