Departure from Barcelona to begin the route with a first stop in Tarragona, a city with a strong historical heritage and one of the most important Roman sites in the Mediterranean. This visit provides a first cultural block of great value before continuing along the coast. Afterwards, the route will continue to Peñíscola, one of the most beautiful towns on the coast, known for its walled Old Town and the spectacular image of its castle by the sea. Here we'll stop for lunch, enjoying the Mediterranean atmosphere in one of the most charming towns on this part of the tour. In the afternoon, continue to Valencia, where the day will end. Day 2 – Valencia, Alarcón, Consuegra, Toledo, and Madrid
After breakfast, depart from Valencia to begin a day of
transition between the Mediterranean and the historic center of Spain. The first stop will be in Alarcón, a small walled village with a marked medieval character, located in a very unique setting on the river. Its historic layout, its defensive profile, and the tranquility of the place make it a very interesting stop to break up the journey with a first taste of the country's heritage.
From there, the route will continue to Consuegra, one of the most
recognizable images of Castilla-La Mancha. The silhouette of its windmills and its castle on the hill provide one of the most representative images of inland Spain, and make this stop a very visual highlight of the route. It's also a good opportunity to introduce the La Mancha landscape and add a clear contrast to the Mediterranean coast of the previous day. Afterwards, continue to Toledo, one of the country's great monumental cities and an essential stop before arriving in Madrid.
