Bern Summer Walk: Medieval, Bear Park & Panoramic Picnic

Begin your journey at the bustling central meeting point of the railway station. From here, make your way to the grand Parliament Building. Catch two completely different, striking perspectives here: first from the stately public square in front, and then from the terrace behind, which opens up to a picture-perfect panorama of the turquoise Aare River below and the distant Alps.

Continue your stroll deep into the medieval heart of the city to marvel at the intricate mechanics of the Zytglogge astronomical clock tower. Just a few steps down the street, pause outside the historic Einstein House, the very apartment where Albert Einstein revolutionized modern physics during his time in Bern.

Next, cross the river to visit the famous BearPark, a spacious riverside habitat where you can watch Bern's resident brown bears playing and foraging in the summer sun.

From the park, take a short walk up to the beautiful Restaurant Rosengarten. Surrounded by hundreds of blooming rose varieties, your guide will set up a fresh Swiss picnic platter. Relax on the grass and savor fresh croissants, pain au chocolat, local cheeses, cold cuts, fresh fruits, vegetables, and hummus while soaking in the best view of Bern’s old town loops.

Wrap up the experience by walking back toward the station through Kramgasse and Spitalgasse, famously known as part of the longest weather-sheltered shopping promenade in Europe.
