Day 1: Arrival and Exploring Thimphu
Meet your private driver and local guide in Thimphu. Visit the giant Buddha Dordenma statue for sweeping valley views, followed by the National Memorial Chorten. Discover the iconic Tashichho Dzong (government seat and fortress) and learn about traditional rural life at the Folk Heritage Museum. End your day walking through the local Craft Bazaar and downtown Thimphu town.
Day 2: Thimphu to Punakha via Dochula Pass
Drive over the scenic Dochula Pass (3,100 m), famous for its 108 stupas and panoramic Himalayan views. Take a short walk through rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang (the famous fertility temple). Tour the magnificent Punakha Dzong at the confluence of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, and stroll across Bhutan’s longest suspension bridge. Overnight stay in Punakha.
Day 3: Punakha Sightseeing and Return to Thimphu
Take a scenic uphill walk through countryside trails to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten for panoramic river views. Visit the serene hilltop Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery. Interact with local villagers and capture beautiful photos before taking the return drive back to Thimphu via Dochula Pass.
