Descrição
Explore the history of Jaffa and Tel Aviv on a private walking tour. Stroll through the ancient alleys of Jaffa, visit the Jaffa Flea Market, and admire the Bauhaus architecture of the White City.
Begin your private walking tour in Old Jaffa, a port city mentioned in Egyptian and biblical texts and inhabited for thousands of years. Wander its restored stone alleys, named after the signs of the zodiac, and see the Jaffa Port, one of the oldest working ports in the world, with sweeping views back toward the Tel Aviv skyline.
Continue to St. Peter's Church, a Franciscan church built on the site linked to the apostle Peter's vision, and Kedumim Square, the heart of the old city, with archaeological excavations visible beneath glass. Admire the legendary (and photogenic) suspended orange tree, a modern art installation nodding to Jaffa's famous citrus trade.
Next, head to Jaffa Flea Market (Shuk HaPishpeshim), one of the region's most atmospheric markets. Once a place for secondhand treasures and antiques, it has evolved into a lively mix of vintage furniture dealers, Judaica and antique shops, design boutiques, and some of Tel Aviv's best casual eateries and cafés tucked into old Ottoman-era buildings. Feel the pulse of local life and pick up a coffee or a fresh juice before continuing.
Then, head to the Tel Aviv Seafront, where the city meets the Mediterranean. Whether it's midday sun or a golden-hour finish, the promenade offers a relaxed close to the walk, with views stretching from the Jaffa Clock Tower in the south to the Tel Aviv marina in the north. Enjoy a cold drink or simply watch the city's famously laid-back beach culture unfold.
A short walk north brings you to Neve Tzedek, the first Jewish neighborhood built outside Jaffa's walls in 1887, effectively the seed from which Tel Aviv grew. Its narrow, low-rise streets feel like a village within the city. See the Suzanne Dellal Centre, home to the Batsheva Dance Company, set around a beautiful tiled courtyard, and stroll along boutique-lined streets like Shabazi Street, full of design studios, galleries, and cafés. Visit the birthplace and former home of Nobel laureate author Shai Agnon.
Finally, enter the White City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site containing the largest concentration of International Style (Bauhaus) buildings anywhere in the world, over 4,000 structures built mainly in the 1930s by architects trained in Europe who fled to Palestine. Walk along boulevards such as Rothschild and learn to spot the style's signature features: clean geometric lines, flat roofs, and rounded balconies, thin "thermometer" windows designed for the Mediterranean climate, and the pale colors that gave the neighborhood its nickname.

Meeting Point: Jaffa Clock Tower
Your guide will meet you at the Jaffa Clock Tower (Migdal HaShaon), located on Yefet Street at the entrance to Old Jaffa — one of the most recognizable landmarks in the area. Built in 1903 to mark the 25th anniversary of Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II's reign, it's one of seven such clock towers built across the region during the Ottoman period, and today serves as the natural gateway between modern Jaffa and the ancient old town.
Look for your guide standing near the base of the tower, on the square facing the clock face — easily spotted thanks to the small crowds, cafés, and the flower market stalls nearby. The tower sits right on the edge of Old Jaffa, making it the perfect starting point before heading into the alleyways of the old city.
Tip: If arriving by taxi or private transfer, ask to be dropped at "Jaffa Clock Tower" (Migdal HaShaon Yafo) — it's well known to local drivers.
