Begin your journey at the Asahi Group Oyamazaki Villa Museum of Art, a charming museum set within a beautifully preserved historic villa over 100 years old. Surrounded by lush gardens and scenic mountain views, the museum offers a tranquil atmosphere where art and nature exist in harmony. Its collection features around 1,000 works, including ceramics, lacquerware, textiles, Japanese and Western paintings, and contemporary sculptures. One of the museum's highlights is Claude Monet's famous Water Lilies series, while special exhibitions are held several times each year, ensuring every visit offers something new. Stroll through the elegant grounds and admire the unique architecture while enjoying a relaxing escape from the city.

Continue to the Suntory Yamazaki Distillery, Japan's first and most iconic malt whisky distillery. This tour includes entry to the highly sought-after Yamazaki Distillery Monozukuri Tour (advance lottery reservation required), where you'll learn about the craftsmanship and meticulous production process behind Suntory's world-famous whiskies. Guided by Suntory staff, you'll explore the production facilities and discover how climate, water, casks, and blending techniques create the distinctive character of Yamazaki whisky.

The experience concludes with a tasting of unblended Yamazaki component whiskies, offering a rare opportunity to sample flavors not available for retail sale. Additional whisky tastings after the distillery tour are available at your own expense.

The distillery tour is normally conducted in Japanese, with multilingual audio guides available in English, Chinese, Korean, and Spanish via the official mobile app. On selected dates, however, the Suntory Yamazaki Distillery tour is conducted in English by Suntory staff. Please note that the meeting time and tour itinerary differ on these English-guided dates.

Your walk between locations will be accompanied by KTIC Friends, English-speaking staff from the Kyoto Tourist Information Center (H.I.S.). Please note that this is not a professionally guided sightseeing tour, but an assisted walking tour. The route includes walking uphill on steep slopes, so comfortable walking shoes and suitable clothing are recommended.
