Onsen culture is about more than simply bathing. It is a ritual of slowing down — warming your body, clearing your mind and giving yourself permission to do absolutely nothing for a while.

Kin-no-Yu is a traditional public bath. Men and women bathe separately, and bathing is fully nude. Your guide will explain the etiquette beforehand, so you can enter comfortably and experience the bath with confidence and respect.

And if bathing is not for you, there is absolutely no pressure. You can simply continue exploring Arima with your guide.

Lose yourself in old Arima

After the onsen, take your time discovering the quieter side of town.

Wander through narrow lanes lined with traditional wooden houses and small local shops. Look for details hidden between the streets, discover local specialties and follow the paths that gradually lead towards the surrounding mountains.

Then step into the forest.

At Zuihoji Park, the sounds of the town slowly disappear, replaced by trees, fresh mountain air and peaceful paths. In autumn, the maple trees add deep shades of red and gold to the landscape, while the changing seasons give the area a completely different atmosphere throughout the year.
