07:50/08:00 | Departure Taking a coach from the center of Sapporo directly to Noboribetsu.

09:50 | Noboribetsu Hell Valley: The steaming volcanic crater looks like hell
This is one of Hokkaido’s most iconic volcanic geothermal sites and the source of Noboribetsu Onsen. It is known for its 'hellish' landscape, where no vegetation grows and smoke billows while the smell of sulphur hangs in the air. The crater is approximately 450 metres in diameter and was formed by the eruption of Mt. Hiyori. The valley is filled with countless fumaroles, from which high-temperature gases and hot springs emit. This desolate landscape evokes images of hell, which is why it is called 'Jigokudani' (Hell Valley).

11:30 | Choose one out of the Mt. Usu Ropeway or the Showa Shinzan Bear Ranch

Mt. Usu Ropeway: scenic cable car offering panoramic views of active volcanoes
Mt. Usu is one of the world’s most active volcanoes, with four eruptions observed during the 20th century alone. Here, you can experience the volcano's geological wonders, enjoy panoramic views of the lake and mountains, and see the remains of eruptions up close.

Showa Shinzan Bear Park: Feed and observe Hokkaido's native brown bears in close distance
The brown bear is the largest wild mammal in Hokkaido. At the Showa Shinzan Bear Park, you can feed the bears. When they see food, they stand up and wave at tourists, showing off their charming side. You may find that they are truly adorable in the park.

13:20 | Lake Toya: a volcanic caldera lake that never freezes
Lake Toya is Japan’s northernmost lake that never freezes; here, you can find crystal-clear waters even in winter. There are many hot spring inns along the lakeshore where you can enjoy 'yukimi onsen' (hot springs with a view of the snow). There are free foot and hand baths dotted throughout the town.

14:00 | Lake Hill Farm: dairy farm and café located on a scenic hilltop plateau
Here, you can enjoy gelato made with fresh milk from the farm's own cows, which is delivered daily. Also you can observer that Mount Yotei, which is known as the 'Ezo Fuji' (Hokkaido's Mount Fuji) because of its shape.

14:35 | Toya National Park Silo Observation Deck: The clifftop lookout of Lake Toya
It offers a panoramic view of the entire national park. On a clear day, we can expect to see not only the crystal-clear waters of Lake Toya, but also the steaming peaks of Mt. Usu and the coloured dome of Showa Shinzan, as well as the snow-capped peak of Mt. Yotei.

16:40 | Jozankei
Jozankei is a historic hot-spring resort town affectionately known as "Sapporo’s Backyard Kitchen." Founded in 1866 by a Buddhist monk named Jozan, this mountain getaway is built over an active geothermal belt that feeds dozens of traditional ryokans (Japanese inns). For day-trippers, free footbaths are located throughout the town's paths, providing a quick way to relax and soak in the atmosphere.
