06:00 AM – Pick-up from Your Hotel or Residence
Your safari driver-guide will pick you up early in the morning from your hotel in Mombasa or Diani Beach. Enjoy a scenic drive inland as the landscape transforms from coastal plains to rolling green hills.
08:00 AM – Arrival at Shimba Hills National Reserve
Arrive at the park gate for registration and briefing by your guide. Begin your morning game drive through the reserve, spotting elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs, and possibly the rare sable antelope.
10:00 AM – Guided Hike to Sheldrick Falls
Take a guided nature walk through the tropical forest to Sheldrick Falls, a 25-meter waterfall hidden deep in the reserve. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, take photos, and dip your feet in the cool natural pool.
12:30 PM – Lunch at Shimba Hills Lodge or similar
After your hike, proceed to Shimba Hills Lodge for a delicious buffet lunch overlooking a scenic waterhole. The lodge is uniquely built on stilts within the forest, offering opportunities to see elephants and other wildlife as you dine.
02:00 PM – Afternoon Game Drive
After lunch, embark on another game drive through the reserve, visiting viewpoints such as Giriama Point and Elephant Hill, which offer sweeping views of the surrounding hills, forest, and even the Indian Ocean on clear days.
04:00 PM – Depart for Mombasa or Diani Beach
Leave the park and drive back to your hotel, arriving in the late afternoon with wonderful memories of your day at Shimba Hills.
