Nairobi: 5-Day Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru & Elementaita Safari

Day 1: Nairobi → Masai Mara National Reserve
Your journey begins with a morning pick-up in Nairobi, where you join other travelers for a shared safari adventure. The drive to Masai Mara takes you through the scenic Great Rift Valley with optional stopovers for photos and stretching.
You arrive at camp/lodge in time for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, you head out for your first game drive—your first real taste of the wild Mara. Expect to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, and maybe even your first lion encounter as the sun sets over the savannah.
Dinner and overnight at your lodge or tented camp.
Day 2: Full Day in Masai Mara National Reserve
After an early breakfast, you set off with packed lunch for a full-day game drive. This is your chance to explore deeper into the reserve, following wildlife tracks and covering different habitats.
You may witness predators on the move in the early hours and large herds grazing across the plains. The Mara River area offers a chance to spot hippos, crocodiles, and—depending on the season—the dramatic wildebeest migration.
You pause under an acacia tree or picnic site for lunch, surrounded by nature, before continuing your afternoon drive. Return to camp in the evening for dinner and relaxation around the campfire.
Day 3: Masai Mara → Lake Nakuru National Park
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before checking out and beginning your journey to Lake Nakuru. The drive takes you back through the Rift Valley with changing landscapes from open savannah to lush lake surroundings.
You arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park in the afternoon and head straight for a game drive. The park is famous for its rhinos, buffaloes, Rothschild giraffes, and flocks of flamingos along the lake shores.
Later, you check in at your lodge, enjoy dinner, and unwind with views of the park or nearby hills.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru → Private Safari to Lake Elementaita
After breakfast, you enjoy a short morning game drive in Lake Nakuru before transitioning from group safari to a private experience.
You are picked up for a private transfer to Lake Elementaita, a quieter, more intimate destination known for its birdlife and peaceful lakeside atmosphere.
The rest of the day is yours—no rush, no schedule. You can relax at your lodge, enjoy the views of flamingos and pelicans, or take a gentle nature walk along the lake shore.
Dinner and overnight at a lakeside lodge with a more exclusive, calm setting.
Day 5: Lake Elementaita → Nairobi
Wake up to the sound of birds and a calm sunrise over the lake. After breakfast, you may opt for a short guided walk or simply relax and enjoy your final moments in nature.
Later, you begin your drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon with drop-off at your hotel or airport.
