Bruce Thomas, owner of Jade Tours, knows Greystone Wines like few others—because he helped create it. Alongside his brother Peter, Bruce was there from the beginning: finding the land, planting the first vines, and building the foundations of what is now one of New Zealand’s top wineries. These tours offer guests a special behind-the-scenes connection to the place and the people who shaped it.

Your day begins with a warm welcome at Cashel Street in Christchurch (there is a shuttle that takes you there from the Lyttelton port), followed by a scenic drive through Christchurch and the Canterbury countryside. Along the way, your knowledgeable local guide will offer engaging insights into the region’s history, culture, and landscape. We’ll pause for a delicious morning tea before continuing into wine country.

Your first tasting stop is at a boutique winery known for its expressive cool-climate wines and family-run charm. Then it’s on to Greystone — one of New Zealand’s most celebrated organic vineyards — for a long, leisurely lunch. The seasonal three-course menu, crafted by Greystone’s resident chef, features fresh regional ingredients and is expertly paired with five of their handcrafted wines for a true taste of North Canterbury.

After lunch, you’ll visit a third hand-picked winery for your final tasting of the day, offering yet another perspective on the region’s diverse terroir. If time allows, we’ll stop for a scenic photo opportunity on the return journey.

You’ll arrive back at Cashel Street with time to spare — relaxed, well-fed, and enriched by this intimate and flavourful wine experience.
