Day 1: Cusco – Cloud Forest – Bambu Lodge
Begin your adventure with an early pickup from your hotel in Cusco. Travel through the picturesque Andes to the colonial town of Paucartambo before crossing Acjanaco Pass, the gateway to Manu National Park.
Descend into the famous cloud forest, home to the Andean Cock-of-the-rock, Peru’s national bird, as well as quetzals, trogons, orchids, and exotic wildlife. Enjoy guided nature walks before arriving at Bambu Lodge in the afternoon.
Day 2: Bambu Lodge – Atalaya Port – Alto Madre de Dios River – Colibrí Lodge
After breakfast, continue by road to Atalaya Port. Board a motorized boat and begin navigating the Alto Madre de Dios River. Along the way, keep an eye out for king vultures, herons, kingfishers, turtles, caimans, and capybaras.
Arrive at Colibrí Lodge, surrounded by pristine rainforest, where you can relax and enjoy the sounds of the jungle.
Day 3: Colibrí Lodge – Manu Reserved Zone – Oxbow Lake – Casa Matsiguenka
Enter the legendary Manu Reserved Zone. After registering at Limonal Control Station, continue navigating along the Manu River through one of the most protected rainforest ecosystems in the world.
Visit an oxbow lake where giant river otters are frequently observed, along with monkeys, turtles, and numerous bird species. In the afternoon, arrive at Casa Matsiguenka, a community-managed eco-lodge operated by the indigenous Matsiguenka people.
After dinner, there is an optional night walk to search for tarantulas, frogs, insects, and other nocturnal wildlife.
Day 4: Casa Matsiguenka – Salvador Lake – Dorado Lodge
Explore the famous Salvador Oxbow Lake by catamaran. This area offers some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities in Manu, including giant river otters, hoatzins, monkeys, and rare aquatic birds.
Later, enjoy a guided walk through primary rainforest, learning about giant trees, medicinal plants, and the incredible biodiversity of the Amazon. Continue by boat to Dorado Lodge.
Day 5: Dorado Macaw Clay Lick – Hot Springs – Bambu Lodge
Wake before sunrise to visit the spectacular Dorado Macaw and Parrot Clay Lick. Watch dozens of colorful macaws, parrots, and parakeets gather on the clay wall in one of the Amazon's most impressive wildlife spectacles.
