Beskrivning

You step out under a sky thick with stars, then see Saturn's rings and craters on the Moon through a professional telescope. Small group, hot drinks, blankets, and a guided tour of the night sky.
You step out of the van into cold, clear mountain air with the Milky Way running straight down the sky. A smart telescope is already locked onto Saturn, streaming a live view of the rings to a shared screen at the front of the seating — sharp enough to count, in real time, not a photo.

This is a three-hour guided stargazing tour twenty minutes north of Banff, at a dark-sky site near Lake Minnewanka chosen the night of your tour based on where the sky is clearest. After a central pickup in Canmore or Banff, your host drives the group in, sets up the projection screen, smart telescope, and audio system, and gets you settled in a camp chair with a blanket and hot chocolate.

The evening unfolds as a shared show. An immersive audio narration walks the group through what's overhead — the planets, star clusters, distant galaxies, and the stories behind the constellations — while the telescope automatically finds each target and displays a live-stacked view on the screen. Your host is with you throughout — pouring hot chocolate, answering questions, adjusting the target list based on what's rising, what's clearest, and what the group wants to see next.

You'll see Saturn's rings. Craters on the Moon sharp enough to trace. Jupiter with its four largest moons lined up beside it. Depending on the season, star clusters and a galaxy or two whose light started traveling toward you before humans existed.

We're the only operator in Banff National Park running a dedicated telescope tour. Groups are capped at 14. If the weather doesn't cooperate, you don't pay for a cloudy sky.

VIKTIG INFORMATION
Dress warmer than you think you need to. Mountain nights are genuinely cold, even in summer often 10–15°C colder than the daytime temperature in town. A warm toque, insulated jacket, warm pants, and proper boots make the difference between enjoying the tour and wanting it to end. We provide blankets and hot drinks.
The telescope shows you real views, not Hubble photos. Saturn's rings, the Moon's craters, and Jupiter's moons appear sharp, detailed, and unforgettable — but in natural, subtle color, not the vivid purples and blues of processed space imagery. The shared screen shows you what the telescope is seeing in real time, live-stacked into a progressively clearer image; the eyepiece shows the same view directly. First-time viewers are almost always surprised by how much detail there actually is.
If skies are unsuitable for viewing on your booked night, you'll get a full refund or the option to reschedule no cloudy-sky bookings. We confirm final go/no-go a few hours before pickup.
