Explore the unique landscape of Ponta de São Lourenço, on the eastern tip of the island of Madeira, on a self-guided hike. This trail offers a completely different experience from the other hikes on the island, with volcanic landscapes, impressive cliffs, and panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and the north and south coasts.
Along the way, you will cross a peninsula with a semi-arid climate, characterized by low-lying vegetation, rock formations, and a great diversity of fauna and flora. The hike includes several viewpoints with spectacular views, and with some luck, you may see seabirds and other local wildlife.
The route is approximately 6 km in total (round-trip), is considered of medium difficulty, and takes about 2.5 hours, depending on the pace and the stops to enjoy the scenery and take photographs.
