Begin your journey in Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia and one of the country’s most sacred cities. Visit the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, built in the 11th century and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. According to tradition, the cathedral was built over the burial site of Christ’s robe, making it one of the most important religious sites in Georgia.

Next, head to Jvari Monastery, perched high on a hill above Mtskheta. Dating back to the 6th century, the monastery marks the place where Saint Nino erected a wooden cross after converting Georgia to Christianity. Finally, explore Uplistsikhe, one of the oldest rock-hewn settlements in the Caucasus, dating back to the early Iron Age. Carved directly into sandstone cliffs, this ancient city once functioned as a major religious, political, and trade center along the Silk Road. Explore ancient tunnels and streets, pagan temples, early Christian basilicas, a rock-carved theater, residential halls, and wine storage areas.
