Imagine spending the night inside a traditional cone-shaped house surrounded by the mountains of Flores, then travelling by boat to an island the following day.
Starting from Labuan Bajo, this 2-day adventure takes you to Wae Rebo, a mountain village reached by trekking through the forest, and Nuca Molas, an island off the coast of Flores. Experience local village life, stay overnight in a traditional house and explore beaches and coastal scenery in one journey. Transfers, four meals, your village stay, listed destination fees and camera and drone documentation are included.
FOLLOW THE FOREST TRAIL TO WAE REBO
Begin with pickup in Labuan Bajo and travel by car through the Flores countryside to Denge Village, the gateway to Wae Rebo. Meet your local guide and begin the uphill forest trek. The walk takes approximately 2–3 hours, depending on your pace and trail conditions, with breaks along the way. At approximately 1,200 metres above sea level, Wae Rebo welcomes you with its distinctive Mbaru Niang traditional cone-shaped houses set against a mountain landscape.
EXPERIENCE VILLAGE LIFE AND STAY OVERNIGHT
Join the traditional welcome ceremony before exploring the village with your guide. Learn about the Manggarai community, enjoy the surroundings and capture photographs of the houses and mountain scenery. Enjoy an included village meal, coffee and tea, then settle into a shared Mbaru Niang for the night, with a sleeping bag provided. Staying overnight gives you time to experience the evening atmosphere and enjoy the village the following morning before beginning the trek back down.
TRAVEL FROM THE MOUNTAINS TO NUCA MOLAS
On day 2, trek back to Denge with your guide and continue toward the coast. Board a traditional boat to Nuca Molas, where forested mountain scenery gives way to beaches and open coastal views. Explore Lowok Beach, spend time enjoying the surroundings and visit the Nuca Molas Lighthouse with your guide. Capture moments along the coast before returning by boat and continuing the drive to Labuan Bajo.
